Join the School of Communication Studies at NCA!
Students and Faculty will present over 100 presentations at NCA in Chicago (November 12-15, 2009). The conference theme, "Discourses of Stability and Change," highlights the many ways in which communication simultaneously reifies and challenges dominant structures.
In addition to academic presentations, the School will host two public events to which we hope interested students, friends, and alumni of the program will attend:
- The Graduate School Open House. NCA sponsors an annual graduate school open house at the conference. At the open house we will host a booth where potential applicants to our graduate program can meet and speak with faculty and current students. The graduate school open house is scheduled for November 12, 2:00-4:45, in the Northeast Hall on the lower level of the Hilton Chicago. We do not yet know our booth number or location, but we hope that you will stop by.
- The OHIO COMS Reception. We would also like to invite faculty, students, alumni, friends, and potential applicants to attend our reception scheduled for Friday, November 13, from 7:00-9:00 at Bar Louie Tavern and Grill (Dearborn Station, 47 W. Polk St.). The Bar Louie is approximately two blocks from the Hilton. We will have a private room, a cash bar, and plenty of fun! The map below shows how to get from the Hilton Chicago (A) to Bar Louie (B).
