Andrew Ledbetter
Education: Ph.D. - Emphases: Interpersonal Communication, Family Communication, Communication and New Technology, Quantitative Methods M.A. - Emphases: Interpersonal Communication, Communication and New Technology B.S. - Wheaton College, Major: Communication; Computer Science (double major) Professional experience: Assistant Professor, Graduate Teaching Assistant, Adjunct Instructor, Publications: Dr. Ledbetter has published in several communication and interdisciplinary peer-reviewed journals, including Personal Relationships, New Media & Society, and Human Communication Research. His research has also drawn attention in popular press outlets such as USA Today and The Selected Awards and Honors: Kim Giffin Award for excellence in independent graduate student research, Department of Communication Studies, University of Kansas. William A. Conboy Graduate Student Leadership Award, Department of Communication Studies, Several Top Paper awards at recent meetings of the National Communication Association and Central States Communication Association. Research Interests: Dr. Ledbetter is chiefly interested in how dyads and families use communication technologies to maintain their interpersonal relationships. Particular research foci include sex differences, nonverbal communication usage, and relational maintenance behaviors in online environments. A secondary area of research interest is the association between family communication behaviors and children's well-being outcomes. Teaching Interests: Dr. Ledbetter has taught or assisted in courses on interpersonal communication, group communication, and communication research methods.
