Education: Ph.D. (organizational communication; language and social interaction) University of Texas at Austin: M.A. (organizational communication), and B.S. (organizational/corporate communication), Northern Illinois University.
Professional Experience: Chair, Presidential Teacher Award Selection Committee (2002-2004; 2003-2004); Information Officer for Language and Social Interaction Division of NCA (1997-98); editorial board, Communication Studies; reviewer for several major textbook publishers; former reviewer for Communication Teacher; Internship Coordinator (2001-2003); assistant instructor and internship coordinator, The University of Texas at Austin; graduate assistant, Northern Illinois University; past editorial assistant for NCA Applied Communication Publication Series; consultant to law firm and Office of the Texas Attorney General.
Publications: Articles published in Research on Language and Social Interaction, Basic Communication Course Annual, Iowa Communication Journal, Communication Teacher, and Journal of Illinois Speech and Theatre; author of two book chapters; co-author of Organizational Communication: Foundations, Challenges, and Misunderstandings; co-developer of CommuniCoach--speech and performance evaluation software; produced multiple public radio features; numerous convention papers.
Honors: Presidential Teach Award (2005-2008); Outstanding Senior Faculty Member Award (2005); Ohio University Research Committee Grant Recipient (Winter 2003); University Professor (excellence in teaching award, 1997-98; 2005-2006), Ohio University; Golden Key National Honor Society Honorary Initiate (2002); Lambda Pi Eta Faculty Appreciation Award, (1997); Alpha Lambda Delta Honorary Initiate, (1998); Top Three Paper Award, NCA (1996); Top Four Paper Award, WSCA (1996); Outstanding Graduate Student Teaching Award, The University of Texas at Austin (1992-93, 1994-95); Outstanding Graduate Student Award (1993-94); Paul K. Research Interests: Relating traditional Lakota philosophy and practices to modern organizational communication; communication and pedagogy.
Teaching Specialization: Organizational communication theory.
