Publications: Author of the book Friendship Matters: Communication, Dialectics, and the Life Course; and scholarly articles in Communication Theory, Western Journal of Communication, Basic Communication Course Annual, Journal of Social and Personal Relationships, Studies in Symbolic Interaction, Journal of Applied Communication Research, Communication Monographs, Human Communication Research, Research on Language and Social Interaction, Women’s Studies in Communication, Communication Yearbook, Communication Quarterly, and numerous book chapters.
Honors: For research: The Theory That Has Left a Legacy Award: “The Dialectical Perspective,” Communication Theory Interest Group, Central States Communication Association (2002); Choice Outstanding Academic Book (1993), Gerald R.
