PHILOSOPHY
The emphasis of the camp is
on teaching both novice and experienced students the skills and theory
necessary to successfully participate in interscholastic speech
activities. While many camps end
students home with a single polished product, we send students home with a
process they can use to make all of their performances polished.
ELIGIBILITY
Students are eligible for the
camp if they have completed the 8th grade.
SCHEDULE
Campers arrive Sunday
afternoon. Workshops and classes meet
throughout the day, starting at 8:00 a.m., Monday through Friday. Practice and individual coaching sessions
continue during the evenings. The week
concludes with a camp tournament and showcase Saturday morning.
FACILITIES
The camp offers a carefully
supervised introduction to college life.
Students live in university residence halls, eat in a campus dining
center, and attend workshop sessions and lectures in university buildings. Campers will also have access to the OU
Libraries, internet computer labs as well as OU recreational facilities. The structure, opportunities, and adult
supervision available at OU make the OU Summer Forensics Camp an excellent
choice.
